Meribel Skiing & Snowboarding information

In the Meribel valley you will find a selection of 30 marked trails  which include several  easy walks on well marked footpaths which are not steep.  Details and a map of these walks are provided in the "Guide to Walks" booklet on sale at the Tourist Office.

The footpaths allow you to explore the area's villages and hamlets, picturesque sites and lakes. Some of them, especially the forest trails, are very easily accessible even to families with young children.

On the higher altitude walks The ridges of Tougnette, Saulire and Mont-Vallon offer fantastic views over the Alps, from Mont-Blanc to Les Ecrins mountain ranges.

A range of wildlife can be seen, including bouquetin and even marmots.

The Tueda Nature Reserve & Vanoise National Park

The Tueda Nature Reserve begins at Meribel - Mottaret, just a few miles on from Meribel. It follows the contours of the valley and lies between Mont Vallon (2900m) and the ruggedly beautiful Aiguille du Fruit (3051m) and extends as far as the Gebroulez glacier. In all, the nature reserve covers 2.700 acres.

The nature reserve is known as the gateway to the Vanoise National Park.

Around Lake Tuéda,  (right) Cembro pines grow, a very rare  alpine evergreen. A marked botanical trail allows visitors to discover more than 100 species of Alpine flora. The lakeside is a favourite place for picnics and fishing and there is a cafe and information centre.
