Summer in Meribel 
   The village of Les Allues is ideally located for an active mountain holiday or a relaxing one., taking in the stunning mountain scenery, picnics in the fresh alpine air, or just relaxing in the sun.  

   A host of outdoor activities, such as rafting, mountain biking, golf, horseriding and many more can be enjoyed nearby.

Meribel's beautiful and challenging 18 hole golf course is just 15 minutes from Les Allues, at Meribel's Altiport area. It is open from 1st June to 30th September, with competitions and events (such as the annual Gourmet Drive in July) held throughout the season. Click here for Golf Information

     At nearby Meribel - Mottaret you can access the Vanoise National Park and the Tueda Nature Reserve (right) for walking and hiking. The beautiful Tueda Lake is perfect for picnics and fishing and has  a fascinating nature trail.

The Apartment in summer

   The apartment's balcony has beautiful views of the Meribel valley, alpine forests, hamlets and gorges, and in the distance the Bellecote Glacier. 

For walkers

    The area is very popular with walkers with paths for all abilities; views include the Beaufortain and Mont Blanc ranges. Some of the most beautiful walks in the region start right at the chalet door.

 For mountain bikers

For mountain bikers there are over 500 kms of trails, ranging from beginner to expert. 

Bikes can be hired locally and stored in  the chalet's basement storage room.  

Bike rental is available in the village and from various specialist shops in Meribel - see the 'Mountain Biking; section below for details.

   The apartment's sunny balcony  enjoys stunning views of the hamlets, gorges and forests and in the distance the beautiful snow-capped Bellecote glacier and is the ideal place to enjoy breakfast or lunch in the sun - in summer it is equipped with balcony table and chairs. 

   

 

You will not need to walk far from the chalet to find stunning viewpoints and peaceful places for picnics .

On your return relax with a drink on the balcony and watch the sun set on the distant glacier.

The chalet has shared garden areas at the rear for sunbathing.

Outdoor Activities

    As well as walking and hiking and exploring the Vanoise National Park there is a very wide choice of activities in the main summer season, including mountain biking and rafting (see below), climbing, canyoning, paragliding, golf, fishing, tennis, archery, horseriding,  and instruction is available from qualified guides and instructors.

Wildlife 

   The Vanoise National Park , France's first National Park, has 500 kms of marked trails, exceptional viewpoints and protected wildlife, including chamois, ibex, and marmots,  There are 125 species of birds including golden eagles, various owls, and three-toed woodpeckers, as well as an enormous array of alpine wildflowers which thrive in the valleys and peaks of  the Vanoise.

One of the best ways to explore the Vanoise Park is on foot. Trails are varying in difficulty from easy to very strenuous. You can also book an overnight stop in a mountain hut.

   May & June - great for nature watching, spring flowers, peaceful walking plus from June onwards river rafting, water sports & golf. July & August - full range of outdoor activities available + all resort amenities, restaurants, shopping, etc.  

   September: normally still warm and sunny and great for walking, fishing, exploring the Vanoise National Park. Golf course open until October, river rafting until end of September.

Families   

   Families are well catered for with instruction available for most sports and mountain activities, for children as well as adults.

   Organised group activities are available in July and August with various children's activity clubs, with a choice of a morning or afternoon session, a day or two or a full week.  For example, the Junior Beavers (age 6 - 12 years) and Mericlub (8 - 13 years) offer a varied program of mountain biking, swimming, abseiling,  wildlife walks in the Vanoise National Park, tennis, archery, rock climbing, etc, as well as crafts and indoor activities. 

   For younger children there is a kindergarten, ages 18mths to 3 years.  In Les Allues a crèche 'Kids Etc' is offers activities, games, arts and crafts.   

The Meripass scheme offers discounts for families on certain activities and free access to the gondola lifts and free entrance to the swimming pool and ice rink . Tourist Office.

Sightseeing  

   The valleys which make up the Trois Vallees are all different in character and the scenery is varied and always changing. 

Village Fetes 

These are organised in July and August - processions, local costumes, dancing, and delicious regional food.

   Resorts in the neighbouring valleys include Courchevel, La Tania and Le Praz (with it's small, pretty fishing lake) in the Bozel valley;  and in the Belleville valley, St Martin de Belleville,  and several small and very peaceful villages which have not changed for centuries. 

   Lake Annecy with sailing, lake swimming, lake steamers is  only 45 minutes drive away. Bozel also has a swimming lake (about 20 mins drive) and the pretty town of Le Praz is just 15 minutes away.  Near Albertville you will find the fascinating mediaeval village 'Cite de Conflans' with its ancient houses, churches and shops all beautifully restored. 

   The Gorges de Fier, the Aravis and  the Mont Blanc region are all within easy reach by car.   Chamonix's  Mer de Glace and Aiguille de Midi cable car are just a few hours drive away.

River Rafting & water sports

   From May to the end of September, France Raft offer  daily raft descents on the Bozel, Doron and Isere rivers.  For more information see France Raft  For more information see France Raft

   Family trips can be organised too. 

   Sailing is available at Lake Annecy during the summer (about 45 mins by car). 

    Other white water sports include canyoning, hydropeed, canoe raft and kayaking - all available on the nearby Isere river or on the Doron near Moutiers.. 

 

Mountain Biking  
   Meribel has 100kms of marked mountain bike trails, for beginners through to experts.  
 
   Mountain bikes can be carried on Meribel's gondola lifts, which have a summer timetable, so you can easily reach the mountain tops for long descents, or follow trails leading to the other valleys and resorts. 
 
 

   In July each year Meribel hosts a mountain biking event - Les 3vtt - a combination of non-competitive events open to everyone and a timed event.
